Hawks re-sign backup center Jason Collins

Jason Collins, who saw little action at the end of Atlanta's bench under Mike Woodson last season, is returning as a backup center for the Hawks under new coach Larry Drew. The Hawks re-signed Collins on Thursday. Collins appeared in only 24 games last season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds while averaging only 4.7 minutes.
Hawks add Kenny Gattison to Larry Drew's staff

Hawks coach Larry Drew is adding former New Orleans Hornets assistant Kenny Gattison to his new staff as an assistant coach. Drew says Gattison adds knowledge and experience to the Hawks. Gattison was with the Hornets from 2003-09. Gattison says the Hawks are "young and talented" as they come off a 53-win season.
Hawks sign Josh Powell for inside depth

Josh Powell has signed with the Atlanta Hawks as a free agent after spending the last two seasons as a backup with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 6-foot-9 Powell was signed to provide depth behind Hawks center Al Horford and power forward Josh Smith. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Powell, from Riverdale High School in Atlanta, averaged 2.7 points in 63 games with the Lakers last season.
